Okay, Lola. Before you head out on your grand adventure with your humans, we have to schedule a time for you to sit in my lap for a long while. I need that because I am going to miss you (and your humans) so very much. I love you sweet girl!
You are a great story-teller…. I felt like I was right there with You and Dawn!😘
CONGRATULATIONS! You have earned your place in America’s Great Loop!
Mary
You are a great writer!!! Am experiencing the loop vicariously through your words!! Such a nerve racking night… glad all turned out well Captain Mike!!
Hey Jeff, glad you’re enjoying. It’s been a blast so far – some trials and tribulations, but we’ve handled them. Hope all is well with you. Would be fun to catch up soon.
I visited Waveland and Bay St. Louis several times before Katrina and loved them both. A very good friend of mine had homes in both places and lost both during Katrina. I helped pick through the wreckage in Bay St. Louis immediately afterward, and was completely awestricken by the incredible scale of devastation. Unfortunately, I have not been back since.
I love your transparency, Mike. It is refreshing, courageous, and encouraging. I am proud of you and Dawn for reflecting on issues, feelings, and valid obstacles and yet choosing to overcome them. Keep being you. 🙌
If you do some exploring, the Ford/Edison estates are well worth a visit! We looked at Ft Myers/Cape Coral as a retirement destination but found the area too much like NJ/NY area…. way too busy! And then there is the river that empties into the gulf, making the surrounding beach nothing like the Gulf beaches I’m used to! If you are renting a car…. there is the Bubble Room, at the northern end of Captiva Island…. its a memorable visit… they serve huge pieces of red velvet cake lol! We also enjoyed a several dinners at Peace River Seafood in Punta Gorda (not sure they are open now but they did have all you can eat blue crab and inside/outside seating). Enjoy your month in Ft Myers!!
Great job as always, Mike. Glad to see y’all are on the move again. Dawn, Justin Bailey just asked about you this morning and then I got this. He said to tell you hi for him. Kiss Lola for me!
Great read Mike! Now I don’t need to make any further south than Marco Island (on land anyway). Keeping up on boat maintenance? That’s all youtubers seem to do every week! Glad you’re on the move again.
Hi Mike. It’s been fun reading your blog. Funny you mentioned Riverside Cafe in Vero. Last Thanksgiving was in Vero tending to an elderly a aunt and uncle. Must have eaten there 3 time in a wake. I had the bang bang shrimp as well. Also loved their key lime pies. Safe travels.
Yeah, its a cool spot, especially when you go on your dinghy. Hope all is well amidst Liberty’s troubles – sounds pretty shaky to me. We’ll be driving up that way in a week – Staying with my son in Lewis Center for a couple days. Would be fun to catch a beer.
Hi Mike, I will be around. However the weekend of 5/20 I will be in VA for niece graduation. If outside of those days, give a call and we can get a beer
Love you Lola!!!

Looks great!
Thanks Lee. What joy packing up all the sandpaper and catalyst!
I’ve never even heard of Bay St. Louis before. Have you made it a full 24 hours without something breaking?
It’s a very cool little town! And yes, we have – but only by a few hours.
I think if you take quick survey, the drunken misfits part hasn’t changed much.
Merry Christmas, Lola, Mom and Dad!
Love Maxie and her humans.
Thanks, I love you Maxie and Rainbow Ted, my first true love. Lick your mom and dad’s ears for me and steal some cheese if you can.
Have a fun adventure and keep posting updates!

Hopefully you’ll be underway soon. We highly recommend Everglade City.
I miss you guys! Waiting for the next installment and more pics. Give Lola a belly rub and a kiss for me!
Finished results look GREAT! Long process, but seems worth it. How is it holding up?
Well worth it. Holding up great. Don’t need to re-core anywhere else, but sure wish could re-gel coat and paint the rest. $$$

10,000 islands is just 10,000 chances to run aground …
Still enjoying your adventures!!
